ABOUT ME

Vera Maksymiuk is a Polish-American writer, photographer, multidisciplinary artist, and folklorist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work is rooted in a fascination with storytelling across forms, from journalism and creative writing to photography and visual art.

As a writer, Vera has contributed to publications including RIFF Magazine, The Stanford Daily, Her Campus, and The Red Wheelbarrow, with work spanning music journalism, cultural criticism, poetry, and creative prose. Her photography and visual work are similarly shaped by an interest in people, place, memory, and the strange and beautiful details of everyday life.

Vera holds a degree in English Literature from San Francisco State University, following earlier studies at Foothill College and a background in photography and visual media at the Academy of Art University. Her interest in folklore runs throughout her creative practice, particularly in the ways stories, traditions, and mythologies continue to find new lives in contemporary culture.
